Akaroa Treated Wastewater Irrigation Scheme

• Akaroa wastewater project budget has now blown out to $176m. FOBP along with other Akaroa organisations is pushing back on appalling new cost cutting proposals to put irrigate even more wastewater on a reduced land area and overflow into shallow water at Childrens Bay. Read our community update and  presentation to CCC Finance and Performance committee demanding this comes back to the community.

• Read our CCC Draft Annual Plan 2026-27 submission requesting that a specific budget line item be allocated for I&I repairs in Akaroa and Duvauchelle.

• The Resource Consent hearing is now on hold until CCC has lodged applications to discharge raw and treated wastewater to Akaroa Harbour and to combine Duvauchelle with the Akaroa system.

• Read the CCC response to 50 pertinent questions asked by the Hearing Panel.
