Akaroa Treated Wastewater Irrigation Scheme

  • The Resource Consent Public Submission process is now underway with ECan and the Christchurch City Council jointly notifying the various components of the Akaroa wastewater scheme. We will be analysing the application and receiving legal advice over the next week or so, and will then provide a template and some advice for making your own submission.  

  • Please ‘have your say’ and make a submission. The number of submissions received from the Community will be important. Click HERE to make an online submission. NOTE SUBMISSIONS CLOSE at 5PM ON FRIDAY AUGUST 9th.   

  • Friends of Banks Peninsula Submission - We will post a precis of our submission on this website as soon as possible and will inform you when this is available to view.

  • Read the Beca report commissioned by the Council revealing that the new system as applied for will regularly overflow raw sewage (p26), treated sewage (p34) and Council is considering treatment bypass during times of high volume (p33)

  • Read the latest Beca report recommending the Duvauchelle and Akaroa wastewater systems are combined despite frequent overflows.
