Akaroa Wastewater Update

The Council is very close to going to public consultation regarding the Akaroa Wastewater scheme, with four possible options.

The ‘Inner Harbour Re-use scheme’ involves land in Robinsons Bay, Hammond Point, Takamatua and a constructed wetland at the top of the Old Coach Road above Akaroa. The Goughs Bay and Pompeys Pillar options both involve storage ponds with irrigation to native trees. The fourth option is Harbour Outfall.

Any of the four options could include a non-potable (not for drinking) reuse scheme.

Friends of Banks Peninsula continues to scrutinise the Council’s work, to ensure the safest possible treatment and disposal is achieved.
