Akaroa Wastewater Scheme update

Things have moved quite quickly on the wastewater front in the last few weeks with several Working Party meetings being held and the Council looking at going to public consultation early next year.

Two possible Outer Bays options are being investigated, along with an Inner Harbour Irrigation plan based around the Robinsons Bay and Takamatua area. Harbour outfall will be another option.

The idea of Managed Aquifer Recharging has been rejected and no further investigations are being carried out on this proposal.

Work is underway to improve the inflow & infiltration issue in the old Akaroa water pipe network with a 20% reduction in I&I being aimed for.
